It is not always possible to use the motor or air transport for a cargo carriage. We often have to transport the freight by railroad.

The most advantage of railway shipping is a possibility to transport large-sized goods which can not be delivered to the point of destination by other means of transport or it is very difficult. In most cases the loose goods such as sand, chip etc. are transported by railroad. Constructional materials and row stock are delivered by railway as well. It is common to use the railroad to transport trucks and cars.

Rail transportations can be carried out only on concrete routes where railway tracks had been laid. That is the most disadvantage of rail freight shipping. Such spatial restrictions have to be considered when choosing a transport for the cargo forwarding.

Not each cargo can be transported in ordinary goods wagons. To solve this problem we use special wagons for specific purposes or wagons with specific features for different freights. A rightly chosen type of wagon ensures ideal conditions for transportation.

 

So, open wagons are suitable for goods which do not require any special conditions of transportations. In most cases constructional materials are transported in open wagons (for example, sand, chip, gravel etc.). Such goods can not be damaged through the influence of environment and will be delivered to the recipient in original form.

 

These wagons are suitable for transportation of equipment and machinery which can not be influenced by changes of any weather conditions and the temperature differences are not important for them.

 

More “difficult” delicate goods are transported in covered wagons (for example, grain or a consignment of different goods).

 

Single-stage and double-stage flat wagons are used for transportation of the motor transport.

It is reasonable to transport perishable goods in refrigerator cars. Such wagons allow setting up optimal temperature conditions for storage of a concrete type of goods. Refrigerator cars are especially convenient when transporting over long distance.
