Linear shipping service

Linear shipping service

Linear communication between continents can be provided thanks to well-organized work of sea carriers. Stable geographical routes of international trade enable to carry out continuous transportation of manufactured goods, foodstuff and many other kinds of goods in different directions.

International linear shipments provide stable connection between the international economical centers including Western Europe, Northern America and the Far East. These centers are connected not only with each other but also with the continents which are less important for world economy and trade.

A distinctive feature of linear navigation

A distinctive feature of linear navigation is assignment of a vessel to a fixed direction. During its passage a vessel calls at appropriate ports according to a preset schedule. Linear shipment is quite different from tramp shipment measured by its services. Services of linear cargo carriers include undertaking of payment for cargo loading in the port of departure and accordingly unloading at the point of destination.

Bill of Lading – a necessary constituent of a cargo transportation

Possible expenses are refunded to ship-owners in accordance to fixed rates of linear shipping. Terms of linear shipping are specified in a pro-form of Linear Bill of Lading called Contract of Carriage in linear navigation.
In the last decade combined carriages have been commonly used which include transportation not only by sea but also by land, railway etc. In this case one more accompanying paper is necessary - Combined transport B/L. This document is issued by one of the carriers or by the cargo forwarder acting on behalf of the cargo carrier. To facilitate drawing up of this document you can use Service B/L which enables to coordinate actions of different transports while transporting goods as well and can not serve as a subject of the transaction.

Linear Bill of Lading

By linear shipping we usually use a linear B/L which contains the will of the consignor and the main terms of the Contract of Carriage. This document determines relations between the carrier and the third person being a holder of B/L.
In other words, B/L is a peculiar receipt given by the carrier to the consignor in witness of receipt of goods intended for transportation.
Thereby, linear shipping is transportation of cargo carried out regularly according to a preset schedule. Confirmation of execution by a ship-owner or his agent is a must.
